A mindbogglingly talented gentleman who calls himself Harry the Piano exhibits his improvisational talents in this series of ultra-fast variations on a popular theme. Warning, this video rates at roughly about a Liszt on the AFS, or Arpeggio Frequency Scale.
“This was not rehearsed and the cameraman barked out ideas for the arrangement on the fly while Harry improvised around the Harry Potter theme tune.”
Clearly one of the greatest vocalists alive, possibly ever. The ease and speed with which he switches from full basso to tenor and countertenor is nothing short of awe-inspiring. I had the privilege of improvising with him once at Florida State, and I’ll never forget the influence of his character and talent.
Along with Bach and Morgan Freeman, Bobby McFerrin is one of those artists who cites the Christian faith as his main influence. Just another example of the fact that, regardless of what you name your inspiration, it’s all coming from the same place.
